Flag Football Part 2…

For someone that can’t run in a game, he sure did well in the speed drills:

flag_football_day3_11

He was undefeated when I was watching him:

flag_football_day3_15

Talk about keeping and eye on the ball:

flag_football_day4_49

I thought this one had America’s Funniest Home Video’s written all over it, but somehow he caught it:

At least Jack had fun…one scrimmage he was paired with all his friends on one team:

flag_football_day4_56

He loved to huddle them up and tell them what to do…and then be the worse DB on the field:

flag_football_day4_59

Oh well…at least I don’t have to worry about any football related head injuries  because Jack won’t be playing any football as he gets older!

Flag Football Part 1…

Oh how I dreaded flag football.  Jack loves football but he is so terrible at it.  The sad part is, Jack doesn’t even know he is terrible at football.  I mean this pose says it all:

Then Mister cone head makes an appearance:

Check out this long ball throwing form…if this doesn’t say ELITE QB on it, I dunno what does:

Concentrate…concentrate:

DOH!   I might not have been a super star athlete, but I could hit, run, throw and catch!  To watch Jack not be able to catch is one of the hardest things to do on the sidelines.

Mini…

You know all those times you get money as a gift and the people that give money tell you buy something nice for yourself but your parents end up taking the money and putting it into your bank account and you never get to buy yourself anything.  Well, Jack wanted a mini iPad and Aya and I said that if he did well in school he could use his bday and xmas money to buy his own iPad.  We would pay half and he had to pay half.

Jack had a good year so he got his very own iPad mini:

Best part was, I didn’t even pay half!!  It was on sale AND I got a gift card, so Jack paid 2/3 and I only had to pay 1/3.  Score one for Dad!!

Laser Tag…

Jack went to Jonny’s birthday at Lazer Tag.  It was his first Lazer Tag party and Jack loved it!  Any time he can shoot a gun is a good time for Jack:

Jack warmed up by playing some video games…of course with a gun:

And more guns:

Even I got a chance to play…the kids reacting to my dominating performance being displayed on the screen:

Basketball…

With back to back basketball camps, Jack still had Venice practice on Saturday and then club team practice on Sunday.  For one stretch he had 16 days of basketball camp/practice in a row!!

Jack putting in some work:

Some 2 ball:

Defense…which Jack must have learned from Uncle Jeff because Jack plays ZERO defense…gets ZERO rebounds…I was so happy when the coach yelled at Jack for being lazy on defense!

Jack finally got promoted to big kid side:

But now he has to work and keep up:

Westside Hoops…

Unfortunately, I couldn’t get into the LMU camp to take any pictures but I got some pictures at the Westside Hoops clinic at CCHS:

Jack’s ball handling skills are getting a lot better….if only he would practice hard…he could be really good:

Most of the time guys take it easy on the girls…nope…not my son…going after his classmate’s shot!

Iverbe…

Jack had a pretty busy summer.  We signed him up for his annual Iverbe camp.  We tried a few new camps this year.  LMU had a one week basketball clinic.  Then Culver City High School had a one week basketball clinic.  After 2 weeks of basketball, Jack had one week of flag football camp.   Luckily all the camps were close by and I was able to stop by and visit during lunch or after work.

Jack at Iverbe, just clueless as water balloons are being shot from a catapult:

I think Jack only likes Iverbe so he can play and trade Pokemon cards with other kids and eat giant otter pops!

Tower of Power…

Jack and I used to build lego towers all the time.  He loved it when I made towers so he could then run by and knock them down.  It would matter if my tower was super high or just a few lego’s high…Jack thought it was hilarious to knock them down.

I started building towers with Stacy and she doesn’t want to knock it down at all.  She wants to make super high towers:

Nephew…

It seems like the updates about my nephew are getting more sporadic so here is my update on Toshihiro.   We went over for a visit so Aya get her fill of ‘baby’ time:

Hard to tell but the little guy is getting bigger:

wk181_toshihiro_4th_july6

Stacy looks like a giant next to Toshihiro:

Just for a size comparison,  Toshihiro is twice the size of a remote control….crazy!!

TMI

I like and I don’t like new underwear.  Sure it is nice to have new underwear but new underwear is never as comfortable as a broken in ‘older’ pair.   I had a few pairs that were broken in quite nicely but the kids would always laugh and Aya said I can’t walk around in front of the kids with my old ‘holey’ underwear.

I usually don’t wear red short under my underwear but I didn’t want to make everyone drool seeing all my junk.  For example, this pair was nicely ventilated:

underwear2

This one had better ‘coverage’ but was nice as well:

underwear3

Almost identical to the pair above.  Honestly I dunno how it rips in the middle thigh portion?

underwear4

This was my favorite pair but Aya didn’t like it when the kids were around…my GLADIATOR pair:

underwear1

I was totally thinking about marketing a pair like this.  It had a slit on the side and sometimes it would fold all the way open.  It was nice and ‘breezy’…kinda like wearing underwear but not really.

In any case, Aya made me get rid of ALL my ‘holey’ underwear and now I have a whole bunch of new ones.

4th of July

Boo….no fireworks at the Culver City High School this year because the field is being renovated.  Instead we went to the movies to watch Despicable Me 2:

wk181_despicable_me2_4th_july2

What happened to the summer movies where I could watch action, killing, gratuitous nudity…now I am stuck watching a kids cartoon….and it wasn’t even good.

After we went to dinner at Grandpa & Grandma’s house and Stacy decided she wanted to wear makeup:

Ugh.  Girls.

Vogue…

It had been hot lately, so I turned the fan on and Stacy used the opportunity to have wind blown hair and to strike a pose:

Girls.  I think this one is going to be TROUBLE.

Graduation…

Jack passed 1st grade with flying colors!   Jack continued to progress throughout the school year and does very well in math and reading.  He kind of stinks at art but outside that he was a stellar student.  To celebrate Jack wanted to go Paul Martin’s for dinner:

Stacy is a chip off the old block eating cheese and meat with mom:

The real reason Jack like’s Paul Martin’s is for the chocolate cake:graduation_dinner12

Next year the 2nd grade!!
