Splashtopia Part 3…

Of course these kids are spoiled rotten.   Lunches were all served pool side.

Dinners were at the resort…where being kid friendly and all, kids are free if the adults order entrĂ©e’s.  Naturally a good deal to keep you on the property:

wk135_palm_springs_blue_ember4

Even though kids are free to eat on the resort, Aya and I wanted to try someplace else.  We were going to Las Consuela’s where Aya got me liquored up 3.5 years ago, but I was having none of that so we went to Roy’s instead:

Stacy and Aya:

The kids with sundae’s:

Here is the problem with going to a resort with young kids.   When they go to sleep, YOU go to sleep.  Why?  Because you are in the same room so I can’t watch ESPN or tv because then the kids stay up to watch.  I know, some of you are saying just wait until they fall asleep and then turn the tv on.   Sure, once the lights are out, then I fall asleep as well.

Plus, the kids want to be *IN* the pool when it opens at 8….so that means we are up by 6 to go to the breakfast buffet:

My little fattie is so stuffed from breakfast she needs to lay down!

Splashtopia Part 2…

Stacy loves the water as well but the problem with a water park and two kids is that Aya and I have to split up and watch one kid each.   Luckily, Jack and I were paired up first so we were on the water slides.

Stacy was having fun squirting people with the water cannon:

wk135_palm_springs_splashtopia6

Next up was the lazy river:

Aya and Stacy swimming in the pool.

For 3 days we pretty much stayed in the pool from 8 to 5.   It was 105 degrees in Palm Springs.  Jack and I even went night swimming one night.  The resort put up a big screen and we could watch tv from the pool.  Of course it was something kid friendly…Puss and Boots.

Splashtopia Part 1…

With Jack starting school in September we decided to end the summer by heading out to Slashtopia in Rancho Las Palmas.  The main selling point of the resort is the water slide and the lazy river.  For some reason, I  thought there would be MORE waterslide and the place would be bigger.  There was only TWO water slides, a lazy river and a few pools.

The place is packed with families and with kids!  Luckily we went when school was in session and we got there Saturday afternoon so a lot of people went home Saturday or Sunday and we stayed until Monday.

Even with just 2 water slides, Jack had a blast!!

He kept riding the water slide ALL day long:

Nothing better than ending a day in the sun with some shots:

The Southern Comfort girls were in the bar passing out free shots…who can say no to free, right?

Whipped Hair…

It has been hot lately so we have the A/C  on as well as some fans.  Stacy likes to go in front of the fans and get wind blown hair:

After a few seconds of just ‘wind’ in her face, Stacy likes to shake her head and whip her hair:

Big Bear Part 10…

The second annual Big Bear trip was a success.  Good weather, plenty of food, lots of games, fishing, family…good times.   Some people had so much fun that they couldn’t stay awake the whole time to enjoy it.

Jack fell asleep on the boat:

So did Aunty Dawn:

Uncle Bryan was the first one to go to sleep our first night in Big Bear at 9 o’clock!

Big Bear Part 9…

After I dominated almost ALL the events last year, I thought it was only fair to let others win this year.  This year we had a tag-team pool tournament that paired up Bryan and I, Grandpa and Dawn and Susu and Aya:

wk134_big_bear_pool_family1

Susu and Aya won the pool tournament.   Next up was the family Texas Hold’Em tournament.   Susu was the big winner…although some of his friends are poker professionals so it seems unfair since he gets advice from professionals:

wk134_big_bear_poker7

We played some Battle of the Sexes game where the men dominated.  The women redeemed themselves in Taboo…just barely.

Then we moved onto Pictionary where the men once won again…luckily Bryan and Susu both draw well.

Big Bear Part 8…

Jack is still too small to have the patience to fish so he walks around the boat, eats, and makes loud noises but this time my dad and I both noticed Jack’s pole started ‘twitching’.   My dad grabbed the pole, I grabbed the camera and this is Jack reeling in his big catch:

Jack getting his first fish just edges out my 1 fish per day greatness…but it was awesome to see Jack so happy!

Big Bear Part 7…

Day 2 on the lake and everyone was hoping that today would be the big day:

wk134_big_bear_fishing_day2_boat5

It wasn’t boding well for me as I only caught weeds:

wk134_big_bear_fishing_day2_boat8

But then Jack caught his FIRST FISH EVER!!

wk134_big_bear_fishing_day2_first_fish1

Holy smokes!  Jack was sooooo happy to catch his first fish!!!

I guess he must have learned from yours truly because I caught the next fish.  The only angler to catch a fish on each day!!

wk134_big_bear_fishing_day2_boat11

Bryan caught what appears to be a tampon!  hahahahahhahaha!!

Big Bear Part 6…

Uncle Susu came up on Friday to make us dinner.  Everyone took terms at cooking, Grandpa and Grandma made dinner on Thursday, Susu on Friday, Bryan and Dawn on Saturday.   If we weren’t fishing we were eating!

wk134_big_bear_uncle_bryan_susu1

Aunty Dawn brought up smores per Jack’s request:

This guy was going buck wild on the smores…not the wine:

Stacy like the smores as well:

Big Bear Part 4…

Beginner’s luck strikes again!   Just like last year, Aya was the first person to reel in a fish:

wk134_big_bear_fishing_day1_boat11

Not to be outdone, I then caught the bigger fish next:

wk134_big_bear_fishing_day1_boat12

My mom jumped in on the action and caught the smallest fish:

wk134_big_bear_fishing_day1_boat14

Then as we were getting ready to leave Aya caught her second fish and the BIGGEST fish:

wk134_big_bear_fishing_day1_boat17

Day 1 tally, Aya 2 fish, Miles 1 fish, Grandma 1 fish, Dawn, Bryan and Grandpa ZERO fish.  Not even a bite.
